Westminster Presbyterian Shares Gifts of Music and Joy This Holiday Season

NACOGDOCHES, TX — Westminster Presbyterian Church invites the community to celebrate the beauty, joy, and hope of the season through a series of special musical events this Advent and Christmas.

“Waiting for Joy” – Christmas Puppet Show and Sing-Along

Sunday, November 30 at 3:30 p.m.
Westminster Presbyterian Church Sanctuary – 903 North Street

Part storytelling, part music, and all heart, Waiting for Joy is a creative, family-friendly puppet show and sing-along that brings the story of Advent to life. Featuring live musicians, vocalists, and puppeteers—including students from Stephen F. Austin State University—the 30-minute program invites children and adults alike to reflect on the joy of waiting and the promise of Christ’s coming.

Following the show, guests are invited to enjoy cookies, cocoa, and a Christmas craft in the fellowship hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Each December, for more than 30 years Westminster opens its doors for the Mid-Day Noel concerts—short midday performances designed to offer a moment of peace and beauty amid the busy holiday season. This year’s lineup features an inspiring range of local musicians and ensembles:

  • December 4: SFA Chamber Choir under the direction of Dr. Michael Murphy
  • December 11: Organist Robbie Belk
  • December 18: McMichael Middle School Choir under the direction of Aaron Dominguez

Concerts begin at noon, followed by a simple lunch. Donations are welcome to support local music outreach and hospitality ministries.

A Season of Welcome

“These gifts of music are our way of opening Westminster’s doors to the whole community,” said Rev. Kallie Pitcock, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian. “Amid the rush of the season, we hope these moments of song and story help people pause, breathe, and rediscover joy.”
