Danna Shae Pugh Garrett, 77, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away on March 5, 2026. She was born July 29, 1948, in Garrison, Texas, to Joshua and Ida Shipp, the youngest of seven children. After her father’s death in 1951, her mother later married Roe Bridwell. Danna often fondly recalled the time Roe bought the family their first television and a piano—memories that stayed close to her heart.
She attended Garrison schools and graduated in 1966. In 1967, she married Allen Robert “Bob” Pugh of Joaquin, Texas, and together they welcomed two sons, Greg and Josh. Bob passed away suddenly in 1989. In 1995, Danna married Jerry Garrett of Nacogdoches, and through this marriage she gained a daughter, Kelli.
Danna was blessed to witness the marriages of all her children and cherished each of her grandchildren deeply. Being a grandmother was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren. She also dearly loved time spent visiting with her siblings and their families. As long as she was able, she faithfully sent birthday and anniversary cards to her siblings, nieces, and nephews—a small but meaningful way she showed her love.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Garrett of Nacogdoches; her children, Greg Pugh and wife Sherry of San Antonio, Texas, Kelli Allen and husband Todd of Minden, Texas, and Josh Pugh and wife Kim of Celina, Texas; her grandchildren, Logan Hacker and husband Tyler of Newnan, Georgia, Landry Pugh and Larson Pugh of San Antonio, Texas, Connor Allen and wife Madison of Minden, Texas, Lexie Yoder and husband Peyton of Newnan, Georgia, Garrett Allen and Wyatt Allen of Minden, Texas, and Jacob Pugh and Jordan Pugh of Celina, Texas; soon-to arrive great grandchildren, Brynlee Kate Hacker and Lincoln Ray Allen; her brother, Buddy Shipp of The Woodlands, Texas; her sisters, Wanda Hendricks and Marie Reneau, both of Garrison, Texas; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Allen Robert “Bob” Pugh; her brother, Jester Shipp; and her sisters, Mildred Curbow and Bea Alexander.
A special thank you to Mary Garcia, an angel on earth, for everything.
