Community Invited to Meet Zion Hill Exhibit Team and Share Memories

Nacogdoches Historic Sites invites the public to an Exhibit Team Meet & Greet on Thursday, November 6, at 6:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church Historic Site, 324 N. Lanana Street. Exhibit Concepts, the firm selected to design and fabricate a new museum exhibit sharing the history of Zion Hill Baptist Church and its congregation, will be in Nacogdoches for a site visit and community listening session. The evening will introduce the Exhibit Concepts team, highlight their exhibit experience, and—most importantly—offer multiple ways for community members to participate in shaping the story of Zion Hill. “Zion Hill has always been about community,” said Veronica Amoe, Historic Sites Manager for the City of Nacogdoches. “We hope this event will bring people together to share their memories and ensure those stories are part of the exhibit.” During the program, attendees can expect to: ● Meet the Exhibit Concepts team and learn about their approach to community-driven exhibit design. ● Sign up to share stories, photos, and memorabilia connected to Zion Hill. ● Learn how to participate in oral-history sessions and future content-gathering days. For more information, call 936-560-4441. If you are unable to attend the event but would like to share stories or ask questions, please email historicsites@nactx.us or call 936-560-4441. Community members are also encouraged to join the Facebook group “Remember Zion Hill…”, a space dedicated to sharing memories, photos, and stories about Zion Hill’s congregation and legacy. Built in 1914, the landmark Zion Hill Baptist Church has long served as a cornerstone of the Zion Hill Historic District and a center of community, culture, and faith in Nacogdoches. Today, Nacogdoches Historic Sites cares for the building and partners with local organizations and residents to preserve and share its stories.
