Graveside services for Elsie Ann Dorsett, 79, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Old Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Elsie Ann Dorsett passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 in Tyler, Texas. She was born on October 13, 1942 in Percilla, Texas.
Elsie Ann Dorsett, 79, of Nacogdoches, passed away August 14, 2022, and is new residing in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Elsie was born in Percilla, Texas to Oscar and Eva Lock on October 13, 1942. She graduated from Kennard High School and met the love of her life, Carl, while attending Stephen F. Austin State University. She taught school in Raymondville, Texas and then in east Texas, where she and Carl settled down to raise their family. Elsie became the official bookkeeper for Commercial Refrigeration, and then Alligator Ice, when Carl started the business in the early 80’s. She loved to play the piano and would frequently play for her church growing up and later at a local church, when she became an adult. She loved to sing hymns and loved being around her family. She was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren. Those that knew Elsie knew she was a quiet, gentle soul.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Carla Dorsett & husband, Sheriff Osni of Murphy, Texas; son, James Dorsett & wife, Connie of Nacogdoches; grandchildren Colton Dorsett, and Callie Dorsett of Nacogdoches; sister, Joyce Harding & husband Gary of La Porte; brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Kathy King of Nacogdoches as well as Robert and Beverly Dorsett of California; sister-in-law Nancy Pierce of Nacogdoches. Elsie is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Elsie is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Carl; parents, Oscar and Eva Lock; and her beloved brother Merle Ray Lock and sister-in-law, Vera Jo Lock.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations to be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA), 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 902 New York, NY 10018.
