SEATTLE, Wash.- Stephen F. Austin defeated Seattle University, 86-57 Saturday afternoon. SFA improves to 14-3 (4-1) while SU falls to 1-14 (1-4).
Seattle jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first couple of minutes of the first quarter. SFA took the lead a couple of minutes later and extended their lead to 19-12 at the end of the first. The Ladyjacks grew their lead to double digits with 3:25 left in the first half and had almost a 20-point lead going into halftime, 41-22. The third quarter was more of the same for SFA as they hovered around a 20-point lead most of the third quarter. The Ladyjacks went into the fourth quarter holding a 22-point lead, 59-37. SFA continued to soar past the Redhawks in the fourth quarter as their lead extended to 31 points with 7:50 left in the game.
SFA led SU in several stat categories including points in the paint (40-36), points off turnovers (19-11), fast break points (16-4), bench points (16-15), field goal percentage (50.8-36.1), and three-point percentage (41.7-12.5). Tyler McCliment-Call led the team with 17 points, which ties her season high. Angel Scott followed with 14 points of her own. Jordan Harrison and Aiyana Johnson also scored 10 points against the Redhawks. Avery Brittingham led SFA with 10 rebounds and was one point off a double-double. Harrison led the team with five assists, followed by Destini Lombard who recorded three. Scott led the Ladyjacks with four steals, followed by Harrison who grabbed two.
The Ladyjacks will be heading back home for a two-game homestand against Utah Valley and UT Arlington. The first game will be against Utah Valley on January 19th at 6:30 p.m.
