The Lamp-Lite Players present Peter Shaffer’s uproarious farce Black Comedy, April 4, 5, 11, 12, 2025, 7:30 pm, and April 6 & 13, 2025, 2:00 pm for the fourth play of the 2024-25 Season of “New” Classics. Audience Dress Rehearsal and Preview Night is Thursday, April 3, 2025, 7:30 pm.
Set in the Swinging Sixties with a unique twist, South Kensington sculptor Brindsley Miller throws a small party with his fiancée, Carol Melkett, hoping to impress a wealthy investor and win over his future father-in-law. Instead, a power outage leads to mayhem and mix-ups between neighbors, an old flame, and the “little man” from the London Electricity Board. Lamp-Lite Players Cristóban Morones as Brindsley Miller, Jessica Shelkey as Carol Melkett, Heath McCormack as Col. Melkett, Kevin Helmer as Harold Gorringe, Lauren Burrow as Miss Furnival, Jason Couch as Clea, Justin Guillory as Zchuppanzigh, and River Delcambre as George Bamberger bring the farce to life.
Roz Couch directs this cheeky romp in “reverse blackout” that lets the audience witness the zaniness that ensues “when the lights go out,” assisted by Katherine Parrish Whitbeck and stage manager Tari Dean.
The play will be presented as a one-act with no intermission. Running time is approximately 65 minutes. Because the play is a “cheeky farce,” it is recommended for audiences 16 and older.
