NPD Officers and Investigators are still investigating a shooting today that resulted in a man being transported to an out of town medical facility for a higher level of care.
Officers responded to N. Popp Street in Nacogdoches at approximately 1 pm on Thursday afternoon in reference to neighbors hearing what sounded like gunshots.
Officers arrived to find a man in the front yard of a residence with at least two gunshot wounds. The victim was able to provide details to officers about the incident before being transported by EMS. The victim is currently listed in Critical Condition.
Investigators arrested Hernan Cuarenta, 17, of Nacogdoches for Aggravated Assault and Theft of a Firearm, both felonies. Cuarenta is currently in the Nacogdoches County jail.
