AUGUST 14, 1963 – JULY 6, 2026
In the Care of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home
Terry Marlene Murray was born on August 14, 1963, in Beckley, West Virginia, to Lowell “Bud” and Reba Phillips. At a young age, Terry and her family moved to Melbourne, Florida, where she was raised. At 12 years of age, she was saved at Calvary Baptist Church and was involved in the youth group and choir. She graduated from Eau Gallie High School in 1981. After high school, she attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, where she met the love of her life, Homer Murray. She always joked about attending college to get her MRS. degree… and she did just that! Terry and Homer married on June 24, 1983, at Calvary Baptist Church, where they began their life and ministry together. They raised three incredible children: Matthew, Justin, and Marisa.
Terry’s career was spent as an administrative assistant in various roles, including church secretary, bank teller, and her most recent and proudest position as an administrative coordinator for CRU. If you’ve spent any time with her over the last eight years, you’ve heard her speak passionately about her job with CRU. She was thriving at assisting missionaries to Southeast Asia, where they actively share the gospel in native languages through “The Jesus Film Project.”
Homer and Terry recently celebrated 43 years of marriage, during which Terry faithfully stood beside her husband. Throughout their 36 years of ministry, she quietly served the church behind the scenes, never seeking public recognition. She will always be remembered for her kindness, compassion for others, welcoming personality, and bright, beautiful smile.
One of Terry’s greatest joys was being called Gram by her six grandchildren. She spent numerous hours and traveled many miles to support them in all their endeavors. She was passionate about crafting, baking, and cooking, where she used her gifts to serve others inside and outside of her home. She especially loved baking with and for her grandchildren.
Over the last year, Terry took an interest in committing to her physical health and wellness. She worked hard at eating right and exercising, resulting in the great accomplishment of losing 80 pounds, which boosted her strength, confidence, and self-esteem.
Terry is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Homer. She also leaves behind her three children and their spouses: Matthew and his wife, Megan; Justin and his wife, Alisha; and Marisa and her husband, Stephen. Her memory will be cherished by her six grandchildren: Cam, Ren, Charlee, Kru, Graycee, and Eli; and her grand-dogs, Benny, Mel, Ethan, and Ellie. Additional family includes her father, Lowell Phillips; her sister, Linda Bowden, and her husband, Eddie; her mother- and father-in-law, Millie and Bill Murray; her sister-in-law, Rhonda Champion, and her husband, Don; her brother-in-law, Joe Murray; her foster brother, Nick Flickinger, and his wife, Susie; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Terry was preceded in death by her mother, Reba Phillips; her sister-in-law, Missy Stancil; and her grandparents, Oakley and Gladys Smith, and Lowell Phillips Sr. and Beatrice Phillips.
Terry went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 6, 2026. Even with her passing, she was able to faithfully impact the lives of many by being an organ donor.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to “The Jesus Film Project.”
