Tena Ann Woodcock, 63, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and a lifetime of memories that will continue to bring both smiles and comfort in the days ahead.
Tena was born in Houston, Texas, to Henry Odell Wilson and Melba Thacker Wilson. She grew up in Houston and graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1981. On November 21, 1981, Tena married Loyd Virgil Woodcock, with whom she would share 44 years of marriage. Early in her career, Tena worked as an executive assistant. After moving to Nacogdoches, she devoted much of her life to her home and family as a homemaker and mother.
Tena found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved being outdoors and could often be found mowing the lawn or spending time with Charlie, her beloved dog. She also loved decorating for holidays and making her famous chili for her family. Those who knew Tena will remember her love of the outdoors and the many conversations and moments of laughter shared with family and friends.
Above all, Tena’s family was an important part of her life. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Loyd Virgil Woodcock; her son, Clinton Dale Woodcock and his wife, JoDee, and their daughters, Callie Jo and Cara Jean; and her daughter, Christine Marie Astorino and her husband, Anthony.
Tena was preceded in death by her parents, Odell and Melba Wilson, her sister, Brenda Wilson, and her niece, Jenny Lynn Russell.
Her passing came far too suddenly, leaving those who loved her with an absence that is difficult to put into words. She will be deeply missed, but remembered in countless everyday moments: The smell of a freshly mowed lawn, a pot of coffee brewing in the morning, and good conversation shared among loved ones.
