Obituary

Mr. Stanley R. Grisson of Florence, Alabama, who moved to Nacogdoches, Texas to be with his beloved granddaughter Victoria Grisson, passed away peacefully in his home on January 12, 2023 at the age of 85.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Alvie; his mother, Voster Grissom; and his siblings, Junior, Marie, Lois, Virgil, and Ed (Grissom). Stanley was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant serving in Vietnam. He had a military career spanning 24 years of service, something he was extremely proud of. He was also an avid runner who competed in multiple marathons and 10k events throughout his life, often traveling to other states to compete. He continued this passion well into his 70’s. Stan, as he was affectionately called by his family, was a kind, gentle soul who loved animals. He also had many other interests and hobbies like working on old cars like the classic 66 red Mustang he had for years. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and attending concerts. He also dabbled at playing the banjo, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his only grandchild.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park, Nacogdoches, Texas.

In lieu of flowers you can donate to one of his favorite charities the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) or Nacogdoches Animal Shelter.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches.
