Sammie Gay (Tindall) Holmes Obituary – Provided by Laird Funeral Home

JULY 22ND, 1954 – SEPTEMBER 3RD, 2026

In the Care of Laird Funeral Home

Sammie Gay Tindall Holmes, 72, passed away peacefully at her home on September 3rd, 2026.

Sammie was born on July 22nd, 1954, in Nacogdoches, Texas to Alpha and Homer Tindall. On December 17th, 1976, she married Gregg T. Holmes, beginning a marriage and life together that would span 50-plus years.

Sammie devoted an incredible 42 years of her career to NIBCO, where she managed the Shipping and Receiving Department. Her dedication and strong work ethic were evident throughout her many years there, and she formed friendships and memories that lasted well beyond the workplace.

But work was only one part of Sammie’s story. She knew how to enjoy life.

For 17 years, Sammie was an avid clogger, and she loved the music, dancing, friendships, and fun that came along with it. She and Gregg also loved RVing and traveling around the country. Sammie was always ready to take a trip – whether it was an RV adventure, a quick getaway, or even a trip to China. If there was somewhere to go, Sammie was ready for the adventure.

She had a special love for the Dirt Cheap Store and enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies. She also loved collecting and reading cookbooks – although actually making the recipes in them was another matter entirely. Those who knew Sammie will remember these little things because they were part of what made her uniquely her.

Above everything else, Sammie loved her family and friends. Some of her happiest times were simply being with the people she loved, especially her grandchildren. She loved playing games with the grandkids, especially Bingo and Sorry!, and treasured the laughter, fun, and memories they made together. Those simple moments with her grandchildren meant the world to her.

Sammie is survived by her husband, Gregg T. Holmes; her children, Tucker Holmes and his spouse, Nathan Pendleton; Gregg C. Holmes and his spouse, Misty Holmes; and Dean Holmes and his spouse, Gabrielle Holmes; and her beloved grandchildren, Landon Holmes, Mason Holmes, Bailey Holmes, and Emma Holmes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alpha and Homer Tindall, and her sisters, Joan Clifton, Judy Tindall, and Katie McDill.

Sammie leaves behind far more than names and dates. She leaves a lifetime of stories, laughter, and countless moments shared with the family and friends she loved so dearly.

Her family will remember her for the life she lived, the laughter she shared, and the memories she gave them. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A Celebration of Life honoring Sammie will be held at Laird Funeral Home on Monday, September 14th, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Sammie’s family asks that you make a donation in her memory to a charity of your choice.
