Safer East Texas Training (SETT) Returns June 11, 2025 with Powerful Lineup of Nationally Recognized Speakers

The Family Crisis Center of East Texas is proud to present the 2025 Safer East Texas Training (SETT) on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center, located at 601 N. 2nd Street, Lufkin, TX.

SETT is a premier regional conference aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of professionals who work to prevent and respond to violence, exploitation, and trauma in our communities. The event features a compelling slate of speakers who are nationally and internationally recognized in their respective fields.

Featured Presenters Include:

Danielle Leukam – Advocate, speaker, author, and Mayo Clinic survivor sharing “Four Pounds of Pressure: A Survivor’s Experience of Rape and Taking Back Her Power.”

Gary Marquis – Sergeant, Child Exploitation Unit Investigator, Texas Office of Attorney General presenting “From Basics to Breakthroughs: Unleashing Creativity Within ICAC Cases.”

Ernie Stevens – Deputy Director of Law Enforcement, Council of State Governments Justice Center, with “Community Collaboration: A Best Practice Approach.”

Eve Valera, Ph.D. – Associate Professor and Research Scientist, Harvard Medical School & Massachusetts General Hospital, presenting “Concussion-plus: Understanding the Complexities of Brain Injuries in Intimate Partner Violence.”

Kim Duchamp – Special Counsel, Human Trafficking Institute, speaking on “Identifying and Responding to Victims of Human Trafficking in Texas.”
