David Alford Obituary

David Alford, 76, of Corpus Christi passed away on April 11, 2025 in Corpus Christi. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Laird Funeral Home.

David was born in Nacogdoches on June 13, 1948 to Hollis Wilton Alford and Margaret Arline Ferguson Alford. At the age of 5, his family moved to Corpus Christi where he graduated from Corpus Christi high school in 1967. After graduation he joined the Marines where he received multiple medals and ribbons and played the clarinet for the Marine Corp Band. During his time in the Marines, he was stationed in California and that is where he met Lana, who became his devoted wife in 1970 for 55 years.

After serving in the Marines, David pursued higher education with determination and excellence. He attended Stephen F. Austin where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry. He moved on to becoming the Manager of the water plant of Neches and Trinity River Authority. He later retired from Nacogdoches to Corpus Christi.

David was a quiet and gentle man known for his quick wit and had a passion for history and science. Being a bookworm, he had a deep love for reading as well as collecting Civil War memorabilia and guns. He also enjoyed Classical Music and Rock and Roll. He was a devoted Mason out of Miliam #2 and a member of the Lion’s club in Jacksonville.

His witty sense of humor and tidbits of knowledge will forever live in the minds of his most loved people….his family and friends.

David is survived by his wife, Lana Alford; his brother, Roy L. Alford; and his cousin, Arlicia Netto of Houston.

He is preceded in death by his parents Hollis and Arline Alford.
