Obituary
Funeral Services for Harold Singleton, 92, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 15, 2022, at North Point Church of God with Sister Lila Clay officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Harold passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022, in Nacogdoches.
Visitation for Harold will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Laird Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Harold was born in Lawton, Oklahoma to Claude and Rubie Singleton on March 6, 1930. He grew up in Lubbock, Texas. Mr. Singleton joined the Army and proudly served in the Korean War. Harold met the love of his life, Norma, at the First Church of God in Nacogdoches. They married in Nacogdoches on July 17, 1948 and enjoyed 74 wonderful years together. Harold was a licensed pilot who loved to fly. He was very active in Gideons International and North Point Church of God. Mr. Singleton attended Stephen F. Austin State University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. He also enjoyed radio-controlled airplanes.
Mr. Singleton, or “popeye” as his grandchildren liked to call him, is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Singleton; son, Terry Singleton, and wife, Donnan; sister, Fran Davis; grandchildren, Clinton Singleton, Claire Singleton; great-grandchildren, Aria Singleton and Anya Singleton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Rubie Singleton; sisters, Marrie Dismuke, Ruby Owens; brothers, Claude Singleton Jr., Glen Singleton, Marvin Singleton, Jerry Singleton, and Lester Singleton.
Serving as pallbearers are Vernis Dale Rogers, Peter Baublet, Herman Atienza, David Singleton, Dennis True, and Clyde Smith.
