Obituary
On October 13, 2022, A.L. went home to see the Lord in heaven. A.L. was born in Itasca, Texas on January 21st, 1932, to Eldon Green and InaMae (Burt) Johnston.
A.L. was an avid hunter and fisherman. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict in the 1950s and retired from United Gas Pipeline Company. After retiring, A.L. loved to tend to his cattle and his garden.
A.L. was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elna Hanna, his beautiful wife Joyce and his granddaughter Reneè Lyman. He is survived by his sons Kerry Johnston and wife Brenda of Hilltop Lakes, TX, Andy and Melissa Johnston of Nacogdoches, Randy and Chris Johnston of Nacogdoches and Pat and Kim Johnston of Richmond, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren Mark and Kathy Summers of Nacogdoches, Joshua and Karina Johnston of Houston, Sarah Johnston of Houston, Anna (Johnston) Boykin and husband Tyler of Austin and Tyler Johnston of Cleburne as well as three great grandchildren Isabella Johnston, Elyse Summers, and Lincoln Summers.
A.L. was a devout Christian and served as a deacon at Shady Grove Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held at Shady Grove Baptist Church on Friday, October 28 at 10 AM. Brother John Withem will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of East Texas or Shady Grove Baptist Church.
