NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Athletic Department announced Rachel Calderón as the Interim Head Beach Volleyball Coach on Wednesday afternoon.
“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and excited for our upcoming season,” said Calderón “I want to say congratulations to Madi on her new role with the indoor team and thank her for everything that she has done for the program as well as Loree and Michael for trusting me with this opportunity. Calderón spent the past year on staff with the Ladyjacks as an Assistant Coach. Prior to SFA, she was the head coach for the women’s and men’s beach volleyball programs at Erskine College (NCAA DII) in Due West, South Carolina. She started the women’s program in 2019 and the men’s program in 2022 and has a record of 24-35 as the women’s beach volleyball coach. Calderón played for two years at Philadelphia Biblical University (now called Cairn University; NCAA DIII) in Pennsylvania. She recorded 555 kills and 809 digs in 71 matches as an outside hitter in her time at PBU.
