Purple Beats White 24-7 in the Inaugural Graylan Spring Game

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – After what has been a very successful spring season so far, the Lumberjacks took to Homer Bryce Stadium for the inaugural Graylan Spring Game.

Led by celebrity head coaches Lufkin Mayor Mark Hicks (White) and Nacogdoches Mayor Jimmy Mize (Purple), the reigning WAC Champions took the field and showcased what fans could expect for the 2023 Season.

In a rushing effort from Jerrell Wimbley that led to two touchdowns, the Purple team walked away with the victory 24-7.

The game featured different in-game scenarios. Overall, Head Coach Colby Carthel was impressed with what he saw overall. “Just a positive day. We still got some work to do.” Carthel stated in his post game presser. “We got three more spring practices… we’ll keep putting one foot in front of the other.”

The Lumberjacks will finish up their spring practice season next week as they continue to prepare for the 2023 season.
