Obituary
Patricia (Pat) Rayne of Nacogdoches passed away peacefully at her home on January 5, 2025. Pat was born in Cambridge, Maryland on October 13, 1939 to L. Eldridge Lloyd and Gladys Brohawn Lloyd. Her formative years were spent in Vienna, Maryland and Cambridge, and she graduated from Cambridge High School in 1957. Pat then studied at Maryland State Teachers College before marrying in 1960.
Pat’s varied interests included cooking, fashion, gardening, reading, and sports. During her college years, she excelled in playing competitive basketball, volleyball, and field hockey. Pat also taught lifesaving classes and served as a summer lifeguard. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and nothing pleased her more than providing outstanding hospitality to all who visited her home.
In Nacogdoches, Pat worked for over 30 years at The Town House where she further cultivated her love of fashion and assisting others. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church where she served on the Board of Trustees and the Altar Guild. Pat was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Pat is survived by her husband Richard W. Rayne, Jr. of Nacogdoches along with 3 children: Richard W. Rayne, III of San Antonio; Kelley Spurrier of McKinney; and Leigh Cannon (Jim) of Encinitas, California. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Jacqueline Rayne of San Antonio; Michael Spurrier of Longview; Sydney Rayne of Austin; Katherine Spurrier of Austin; and great-granddaughter Evelyn Spurrier of Longview. Pat is also survived by her sisters Jane Johnson of Baltimore, Maryland; Ginny Lloyd of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Pat’s life, a private family service will be held. A reception for friends and family will be on Saturday, January 11, at 11:00 a.m, in the parlor at First United Methodist Church of Nacogdoches.
Per the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church.
