Good Monday Morning!
Thank you everyone for such a great meeting even with the rainy weather. I also want to thank Burke for allowing us to continue having our meeting in their wonderful conference room, we greatly appreciate it.
We covered a lot yesterday, so I just wanted to sum it up for everyone.
Thank you ADAC- Wow-Tech for a very informative presentation on what being apart of a coalition looks like and how to be better involved.
The Nacogdoches area vape store pictures- I hope they were informative for everyone and brought light onto what is being promoted at these stores towards youth. We also had an active discussion, especially about the hide-away items that were shown, the different promos that vape stores are doing regarding Delta 8 and THC products . This led us into the conversation of the city ordinance that we are actively trying to build, which will keep any new vape store from opening in the place of a closing one and the timeline for approaching this project, how it will be a lengthy process before we begin to approach city council.
A new vape awareness activity that we have to bring to events for youth is, our vape escape room! Kids are given 30 minutes to find clues and solve puzzles in order to escape the room that is being “filled” with toxic chemicals from vapes. For the August Meeting, we will be bringing the vape escape room, so the Coalition Members will have a chance to try and escape the room!
Also, we would like to present this idea to our area schools, with upcoming parent/student events at the beginning of the school year, we can bring the vaping awareness information to parents and area students.
If you have any events that you would like us to set the escape room up at please let us know.
Upcoming event- Stonewall Baptist Church Back to School Giveaway on August 10th 9 am at Festival Park. They will be giving away free backpacks and other school supplies and invite all organizations to join them!
If there are any events that your organization is hosting, please let me know and I will be happy to share them via email and our Facebook page, Nac-Can Community Coalition, also like and follow our page for updated information/events. If there is any specific information we can help with, please let us know.
Till next month- Stay Cool and I look forward to seeing you again!
