Marijuana, stolen firearm seized during search

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas – Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested two men while investigating a shooting in the county Thursday night after they were found in possession of a felony amount of marijuana and a stolen firearm.
Deputies were dispatched around 4:16 p.m. Thursday after 911 dispatchers received a report tha someone had fired at a vehicle parked outside a residence in the 300 block of CR 6103. No injuries were reported, but damage was observed to the vehicle.
Evaristo Sanchez Jr., 24, and Jose Gerardo Sanchez, 25, were identified as persons of interest in the shooting, and were contacted by deputies in the 800 block of Third Street in Nacogdoches. Both men were detained and a search warrant for the home was secured. Inside the residence, deputies recovered three firearms – two handguns and a rifle – and more than 8 ounces of marijuana. One of the handguns was found to be reported stolen from Lufkin. Paraphernalia was also seized.
Evaristo Sanchez Jr. was taken into custody on a state-jail felony charge of theft of a firearm and a warrant for a motion to revoke probation. Jose Sanchez was charged with state-jail felonies for theft of a firearm and possession of marijuana, as well as unlawful possession of a firearm. This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges are possible.
