NACOGDOCHES, Texas – UTSA defeated Stephen F. Austin 9-3 in the Lumberjacks return to Jaycees Field. UTSA improves to 15-3 as SFA falls to 6-11.
The Lumberjacks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning thanks to a two-run blast over the left field wall from Hunter Prescher, his first home run of the season.
The Roadrunners were able to respond quickly as they started a two-out rally in the top of the third. With a runner on third, UTSA was able to produce a walk and two single, giving them the lead at 3-2. The ‘Jacks answered back once against with two quick singles to start the bottom half of the inning. Cal Martin then hit a tough infield single the shortstop wasn’t able to come up with, bringing in one run and retying the game at 3.
From the fourth inning on, the UTSA bullpen shutout the ‘Jacks and held them to four hits the rest of the game.
The Roadrunners put up two runs in each the fifth, sixth, and ninth inning, giving them the 9-3 lead and the win over the Lumberjacks.
Prescher and Peyton Parker both went 2-for-5 on the night while Martin, Clayton Loranger, Barrett Rose, and Julian Thompson all collected a hit against the Roadrunners.
