Obituary

Lucy Lambert, 58 of Nacogdoches, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024 in Nacogdoches. Memorial Service for Mrs. Lambert will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, April 19, 2024 at Laird Funeral Home.

Lucy E. Hardin, Hays-Lambert was born September 29, 1965 in St. Charles, Illinois to Charles and Betty (Timms) Hardin and passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024 in Nacogdoches, Texas.

She graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1984 where she sang choir and continued to love singing even after graduating.  Lucy was a Christian and she had a big heart. If you asked her for her opinion, she would tell the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. That’s one of the traits we all loved about her. She was a shoulder to cry on and always lent an ear when you just needed to talk.

Lucy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the volunteer fire department where she served at South Nac. and Lake Nac. She enjoyed doing crafts, making jewelry, and quilting, all of which she was proud of. She loved giving gifts no matter how big or small. If she gave you a birthday card or just a card to cheer you up, by the end of reading it you would know how much you meant to her. She loved family gatherings, cooking, laughing, playing washers, and taking pictures, capturing all the special memories of the people she loved and cherished. She also enjoyed fishing and traveling. Sometimes she would fall asleep just a few miles past the city limit sign, Thomas would always pick on her saying, “that sure was some pretty scenery along the way, wasn’t it?”  to aggravate her and she would just blow him off. Her greatest passion was getting grandkids, nieces, and nephews together to spend time with them.

Lucy is survived by her father, Charles Hardin & stepmom, Linda; her brother, Anthony Hardin & wife, Nancy of Arkansas, Charles Hardin Jr. of Nacogdoches, and Kevin Duncan Hardin of Illinois; ex-husband and friend of 30 years, Thomas Lambert; stepchildren, Lance Lambert and Melissa Wood & husband, Mike of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Ashley Selph, Brittany Dodd, and Brandon Brookshire of Nacogdoches; great-grandchildren, Blake, Kairi, Bailee, Taylor, Chloe, Jett, and Riverlyn of Nacogdoches; niece, Kandi Hardin of Kingstown; nephews, Cade Grimes and Cole Grimes; as well as several other nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her birth mother, Betty (Timms) Hardin; parents, Harold Hays & wife, Faye Hays Harvey; siblings, Charles W. Hardin, Angela O. Journey Grimes, Steve U. Hayes, and Michael S. Hardin; niece, Kacie M. Hardin; and stepson, Chance Lambert.
