Fatal fire under investigation

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas – A fire that took the life of a Nacogdoches County woman is under investigation by the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshal’s Office. No immediate signs of foul play were observed at the scene of the fire, which occurred in the 200 block of CR 5011 in the Kingtown area in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 4, 2024. Lucy Hayes Lambert, 58, was discovered deceased inside the residence after the fire was extinguished. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and remains under investigation. The residence was a
complete loss. Deputies and firefighters were dispatched to the blaze after a 911 call was received at 5:49 a.m. Thursday. The home was found to be completely engulfed when emergency responders arrived. Volunteers from the Etoile, Melrose, Woden, and Kingtown volunteer fire departments, and firefighters from the Nacogdoches Fire Department, responded to the scene and were able to extinguished the
blaze by approximately 11:25 a.m. Additional information on the fire is not available at this time. The prayers, thoughts and sympathies of the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office are with the Lambert family during this difficult time.
