SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico- Stephen F. Austin defeated Morgan State, 60-36. SFA improves to 4-1 while MSU suffers their first loss of the season (6-1).
Aiyana Johnson scored the first basket of the game and the Ladyjacks never looked back. At the end of the first quarter SFA had a 10-4 lead, and were able to extend the lead to 30-13 at halftime. The rest of the game was more of the same, as the Ladyjacks ended the third quarter with a 21 point lead. SFA scored the final four points as they cruised to a 60-36 victory.
SFA led in points in the paint (34-10), points off of turnovers (15-14), second chance points (9-8), bench points (26-11), field goal percentage (53.7-25.0), three-point percentage (28.6-22.2), and free throw percentage (66.7-57.1). Kurstyn Harden led the Ladyjacks with 16 points and did not miss a single shot, while Johnson followed by scoring 15. Johnson also led the team with nine rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Avery Brittingham and Tyler McCliment-Call both recorded seven rebounds. Jordan Harrison also recorded two steals in this game.
SFA will be back in action for the second game of the tournament on Saturday, November 26th at 3:00 p.m. CT as they face off against Boston College.
