NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin women’s basketball program will venture to Europe with a 10-day trip to Italy from Friday, August 4th to Monday, August 14th. An excellent educational opportunity, the Ladyjacks will gain a unique cultural experience while touring Italy’s most iconic historical landmarks.
With stops in Milan, Florence, Rome and Sorrento, the Ladyjacks will play three games. The first game will be on August 7th at 1:30 p.m. CST against the Florence All-Stars. Game two is August 10th at 1:30 p.m. CST against the Rome All-Stars. The final game of the Italy tour will be August 11th at 11:30 a.m. against Italy Select.
Partnering with World Sports Travel for this trip, the Ladyjacks’ stay in Florence is highlighted by a bike tour, a scavenger hunt, and exploring San Lorenzo. In Rome, the team will get a tour of the Rome squares, the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Vatican, Sistine Chapel, and Saint Peter’s Basilica. The third stop of the trip will be in Naples where the team will participate in a pizza making class and go on a Naples guided sightseeing tour. The Ladyjacks will take a boat to the Amalfi Coast to spend some time exploring, then they will head to Positano, and will head back to Sorrento. The next day, the ‘Jacks will head to Capri and get a private boat ride around Capri before heading back to the US.The SFA Ladyjacks and SFA Athletics would like to thank all of the generous donors who helped make this trip a reality.
