The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office and Nacogdoches County court officials are aware of a scam circulating in which people are being directed to a website that requests credit card or financial information when registering for jury duty.
County residents summoned for jury duty will NEVER be asked to provide credit card or financial information. County residents will NEVER be contacted and asked to make payments online or over the phone to avoid arrest if they do not show up for jury duty, or have previously missed jury duty.
Legitimate law enforcement will NEVER request payments or financial information form residents to avoid arrest or address charges.
Any request for payment, credit or debit card, or financial information related to jury duty or summons is a scam. Any requests to use gift cards or prepaid cards for official purposes is a scam.
In October, the District Clerk’s office began sending out post cards as jury summons that use a QR code and link to https://jury.naccotx.us in order to complete registration. This is the only official portal to complete your summons registration.
If you are at all concerned about whether you may have received fraudulent information, contact the district clerk’s office at 936-560-7740 to verify that information.
If you have fallen victim to a scam, please make a report to the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office by calling the dispatch non-emergency line at 936-559-2607 or your local law enforcement agency.
