SEPTEMBER 1, 1942 – AUGUST 13, 2022
Obituary
Irene King (Mann) Borgschulte, age 79, of Shelbyville, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022 in Nacogdoches. She was born September 1, 1942 in Syracuse, New York, to parents Uhl Mann and Louise (Heinbaugh) Mann.
Born and raised in the Syracuse, New York area, Irene went on to Lansing, Michigan to work on a veterinary degree at Michigan State University. From there she moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where she later met her husband Gerald. Together, they bought a travel trailer and started travelling. When they discovered Huxley Bay and fell in love with the beauty of the area and the people there, they eventually chose to move there permanently and have loved it ever since.
One of Irene’s greatest joys was taking care of the stray cats and dogs that wandered into her life and feeding the forest creatures that lived in their woods. She also enjoyed her many wonderful friends and neighbors, as well as old friends scattered all over the country. She was always a bright ray of sunshine, never saying anything bad about anyone. She will be sorely missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Borgschulte; son, Kyle Cushman; daughter, Kristin Clement; step-children, Terri Vollmer, Mike Borgschulte, Donna Wilder, and Sondra Volmert; and numerous other relatives and friends.
No services are being held.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Irene’s name to the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 635030 or 3211 SW Stallings Drive, Nacogdoches, Texas 75964.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches.
