NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas – Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office deputies seized more than 30 lbs of illegal drugs and arrested an Illinois man on first-degree felony charges during a traffic stop Tuesday. Juan Antonio Diaz, 27, was booked into the Nacogdoches County jail on two first-degree felonies for possession of a
controlled substance. A deputy patrolling in the 4000 block of South Street around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday noticed a white 2014 Hyundai traveling over
the posted speed limit, and with a non-functioning headlight. The deputy initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of N.W. Stallings Drive and Drust Street.
The deputy asked the driver if there was any contraband in the vehicle, and the driver admitted to having THC candy in the car. The deputy asked for, and was given, consent to search the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, the deputy noticed the rear windows of the vehicle to not be functioning properly, and on further inspection, spotted several vacuum-sealed bags containing a white substance hidden inside the door frame. The driver was taken into custody. A thorough search of the vehicle was conducted, and deputies removed 13 packages from the doors, 10 of which contained
suspected methamphetamine and three of which contained cocaine. In total, 23.4 lbs of methamphetamine and 7.4 lbs of cocaine were seized, along with the THC candy, which is illegal in Texas. This is an ongoing investigation
