As we approach the Fourth of July holiday, the Nacogdoches Police Department will be participating in the Independence Day STEP IDM Wave to help keep our roads safe. From June 26 through July 13, 2025, our officers will be out in full force, focusing on identifying and removing impaired drivers from the road. This increased enforcement is part of a statewide effort to prevent crashes and save lives during one of the busiest travel times of the year.
We’re not out to ruin anyone’s fun — we just want everyone to get home safely. Remember, even one drink can impair your ability to drive. If you’re celebrating with alcohol, plan ahead:
Designate a sober driver
Call a friend for a ride
Use a rideshare or taxi service
Stay put if you need to
Celebrate freedom responsibly — because every safe trip home is worth it.
