Obituary
Doris Hazel (Bowley) Jones, 90, of Timpson, Texas, passed away on May 8, 2023, in Timpson, Texas. She was born on May 1, 1933, in Wilson, Texas to the late Willie and Hazel (Ashley) Bowley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Garrison Funeral Home, Garrison, Texas. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00 pm.
Doris was married to Clarence Earnest Jones on April 15, 1949, at the age of 16 by Reverend T.F. Burrow in Houston, Texas. They were married for 63 years at the time of his passing in 2011. She was a long-time employee of AT&T/Southwestern Bell Telephone, where she was a member of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) union, as a telephone operator before eventually retiring as a supervisor/instructor. Doris enjoyed reading anything and everything. She was an excellent cook, despite actually hating cooking. Doris loved music and playing piano. She was a very talented cabinetmaker and woodworker. Doris took great joy in being outdoors planting and gardening.
Doris is survived by her 4 children, Margaret Darlene Klawinski and husband, Harry of Tomball, Texas, Rickey Lynn Jones and wife, Debra of Overton, Texas, Phillip Allen Jones of Conroe, Texas, and Dana Keith Jones and wife, Angela of Timpson, Texas; and sister, Adalee Steward.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hazel and Willie Jones; and siblings, Leroy Bowley, Larry Charles (L.C.) Bowley, and Delores Liedtke; and daughter-in-law, Christina Jones.
