Obituary

Mrs. Donna Jean Deaton-Tatum, 76, of Douglass, TX, went to meet her Lord and Savior peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2023 in her home in Douglass.  A celebration of life will be Saturday, October 21, at 11:00 AM at the Big Rock Gospel Church, 139 CR 890 in Cushing, Texas. Her family invites you to join them for her celebration and to stay and share a meal and your memories.

She was born on May 15, 1947 in Morenci, AZ, to parents R.V. and Elsie (Gentry) Deaton, and came home to big brother, Jeffie Donald Deaton. She grew up in Omaha, Texas and attended Paul Pewitt.  In 2022, she married Johnny Tatum of Douglass, Texas.

Donna grew up in a time when everyone worked hard, played hard and your cousins and classmates were life long friends.  She never met a stranger, would give you the shirt off her back, and when she loved she loved BIG.

With her big smile and beautiful soul she will be missed dearly. She lived and loved with a wide open heart. She lived her life enjoying all the little things that made her smile and living for every day. She loved her family and friends deeply. If she had a memory with you she cherished it always, and spoke of it often.

She loved her flowers, gardening, the Cowboys, George Strait, dancing, painting, taking care of her friends and her beloved pets.

She loved Jesus, and her church family with her whole heart. In the recent years, her faith in Jesus Christ and her church family have brought her so much comfort in her times of pain. She loved Johnny Tatum and was blessed in the last years to have him by her side.

She was proceeded in death by both her parents, and her bother.

She is survived by her spouse, Johnny Tatum; Her children, Jimmy Don Temples, wife Denisa, and grandchildren, Janna, Jessie and David, Copperas Cove, Texas; Shannon Hulett, husband Brad Hulett, Garden City, Kansas; Sister-in-law, Jan Deaton, Naples, Texas; many children and grandchildren of her heart.
