Obituary

Darla Jean Hope (Irwin), 63,  left this world in the arms of the Lord on May 6th, 2024, at her home in Reklaw, Texas, on the 25th anniversary of her mother’s passing in 1999. That would have been incredibly significant for her, and it gives me comfort that My Ammaw was there waiting for her, to show her the way Home.

Darla was born in Houston, Texas to John and Nora Irwin on December 13, 1960. She grew up and spent most of her school years in Houston, then when the family moved to Longview, Texas in 1974 she continued at Longview High School and Hallsville High School.

After moving to East Texas, Darla helped her family open and run Jack’s Stereo in Longview, Texas where I’m sure her love for music truly blossomed, later in life she assisted in running Angler’s Choice fishing tournaments with her then husband and daughter, Casea. She waitressed for many years at Fisherman’s Market and made many lifelong friends there. She’s been a caretaker for many family members and friends, she’s helped us all in our time of need. She’s been a friend, a sister, a daughter, a mother, and a grandmother. She made many friends along the way, and she will be remembered as the life of the party and missed dearly by all.

Darla was a free spirit and loved to listen to music and dance and sing and play the tambourine. She loved to be surrounded by her friends and family, those were the times that made her the happiest. She was a joy to be around when she was surrounded by people she loved.

Darla is preceded in death by her grandparents Luke and Sarah Irwin, her parents John and Nora Irwin, Her ex-husband Jerry Hope, her brother Keith Irwin, Her nephew Joshua Irwin, as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

Darla is survived by her daughter Casea Hope-Misek(Christopher Misek), her sister Deborah Kubecker(Michael Kubecker), her grandchildren Travis Bray, Trevor Bray, and Teagan Misek , Nieces Jacklyn Byers(Tim Byers) , and Lindsey Edge(Merritt Edge) , great nephews Carsten and Rhys Byers,  great niece Aubree Edge, cousins Elbony Cline and Ricky Bass, Uncle Byron Irwin, extended family in Houston, Cathy Irwin, Joshua Irwin, Alexandria Irwin and her very special friend Kevin Kluth and his daughters, who she considered her own, Amanda and Jimmy Haynes(Caleb Tucker & Layla Haynes) , Cassie and Duke Pool(Oakley Pool) , and Jacklyn and Dillon Campbell(Hayden Campbell & Jameson Campbell). Darla went to church as often as she could and was washed by the blood of our Savior. We hope and pray that she is resting comfortably in his arms, finally free from pain and sadness that tormented her solitude.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So, we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Romans 8:18
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

Darla is under the care of Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing, TX,  Arrangements are pending
