Obituary
Cora McKnight Byars passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Heart to Heart Hospice Center in Houston, Texas. Cora was 81 years old.
Cora was born on June 12,1943 in Nacogdoches, Texas to James Edgar McKnight and Emma Irby McKnight. She graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1961.
Cora was known for her quick wit and kind heart. She tirelessly worked to help support her family, often holding jobs that were typically designed for men. From building cabinets to running a chicken farm, Cora prided herself in being a hard worker, while at the same time she always made sure her family had a home cooked meal every day. Cora and her children attended First Assembly of God, with her influence, her late husband Roy Langford, eventually attending those Sunday family days.
Cora is survived by her beloved daughter Melanie Langford Crowel, sons Curtis Glen Butler (Lisha), Darrell Edgar Butler (Laura), Roy Dale Langford (Misty); grandchildren, Terry Arriola, Kristyna Butler and Cade Butler, Haley Langford, Tiffany Langford, Faith Langford, Austin Pletz. She is also survived by brothers, Earl McKnight (Faye), Jerry McKnight (Alberta), Archie McKnight, Irby McKnight (Vicki) and sister Verna McKnight Fruge, along with great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Thomas McKnight, Manual McKnight, Gene McKnight, Hershel McKnight, granddaughter Amity Leah Arriola and son in law Ronald Crowel. Her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched will carry her memory forever in their hearts.
