David passed away surrounded by his family on September 26, 2024, in Nacogdoches. He was born on May 8, 1956, to Bobby Joe & Jennie (Packard) Bush in Nacogdoches.
David was a lifelong Nacogdoches resident. He graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1975. David was a dedicated employee and was valued by the management he worked for. They would always request his presence at the next job. His last employment was maintenance for the Heart Institute.
In 1977, David married the love of his life, Rebecca Hancock. Together they built a family together that included their daughter, Liea. David cherished every moment he got to spend with family, often taking his grandchildren fishing. He enjoyed cooking for others and his love for food included Coca-Cola, fried chicken, and Hershey’s bars.
David had a passion for all sports. He enjoyed listening to sports on the radio and reading about them in the paper, more than watching them on television. One of David’s greatest achievements was going to Steamboat, Colorado to play and win the National Softball Championship in 1990. He was #27 for the Mavericks. Some of his favorite teams include the Rangers, Mavericks, and Texans.
David was bossy and comical. He was spoiled by his sisters, including his sister, Lydia before her passing and mother, forever a Mama’s boy. In the nursing home, his roommate, Robert Owen, always made sure he was taken care of. David had a close bond with his “brother” cousins that he grew up with. He had a special relationship with his faithful companion, his beloved dog, Liz. David was very loving. He was humble and kind. He was a devoted friend, always. David never complained and fought hard to the very end.
David is survived by his mother, Jennie Bush; daughter, Liea Marie Caudle; grandchildren, Aaron Caudle & partner, Brittany Yates, Hudson Fuller, and Kyndal Gibson; great-grandchild, Kennedy Blake Caudle; sisters, Cindy Watson & husband, David, Lisa Bush Driver, Bibby Dyson & husband, Jimmy, Jr., and Camille Pinkston & husband, Bradley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
