Obituary
Burl J. Evans, Sr., age 90, of Nacogdoches passed away from this life on April 15, 2023. He was born to Meredith J. Evans and Mabel L. Evans on January 5, 1933, in Wichita Falls, Texas and graduated from Wichita Falls High School. After completing high school, he then attended University of Dallas, and Dallas’s Richland and Eastfield business colleges. Burl obtained his Texas Real Estate Broker License and owned Lamplighter Realty and Management servicing the Nacogdoches area and adjacent East Texas areas from 1979 to present.
Burl is survived by his son, Jeff Evans/wife Mary Evans, daughter, Becky “Ali” Canyon, son, Larry Evans/wife Jennifer Evans, daughter, Debbie Evans Dietz/husband Ron Dietz, son, Toby Brittain/wife Seranda Brittain, son, Kevin Brittain/wife Sobe Brittain. He has 17 grandchildren, Rushton Graves, Ashton Graves, Jefferson Evans II, Jana Evans Childers, Jessica Ingham, Laremy Evans, MacKenzie Evans, Delaney Evans Valdez, Megan Evans Tiscareno, Emilie Dietz, Lauren McComber, Alden Brittain, Mason Brittain, Chandler Brittain, Destin Brittain, Kolten Brittain, Erika Herrera and niece Pam Greenroyd. Burl also has 17 great grandchildren.
Burl is preceded in death by his loving wife, Gay Evans, his father, Meredith J. Evans and mother, Mabel L. Evans, step-mother, Evelyn Evans, sister, Joyce Reed, son, Burl J. Evans, Jr., son Garry Evans, niece Patty Reed, and grandchild Breleigh Ratliff.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Eastside United Pentecostal Church in Nacogdoches officiated by Bro. Ennis Fuller. Friends and family are invited to a visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.
Pallbearers include Burl Evans 8 grandsons.
