Brad Maule has announced his intentions to seek re-election to the City Council Northwest Ward seat in the May 3rd city elections. Brad has served on the city council as the Northwest Ward representative for the past two years. During that time, he has had a hand in hiring a new city manager and managing a multi-million-dollar bond project that includes infrastructure and street improvements along with new construction that will replace multiple outdated fire stations in the city.
During Brad’s first term on the Council, several significant economic development projects have been announced or have come to fruition including the $100 million expansion of the local Eaton plant, bringing more than 200 new jobs to town, approval of a $49 million bond initiative, a $16 million dollar apartment and townhome project and a $10 million investment in downtown by Elliott Electric, as the company relocates its corporate headquarters to the old Regions Bank building. Additionally, recent announcements within the city include the planned addition of new retail outlets including Aldi’s.
With a term on the Council behind him, Brad says he has learned a lot. “I’ve always believed it’s important that members of the council represent the values and priorities of the people who live in our city,” Brad said. “I’m more committed to that than ever. We, as a Council, have a responsibility to the people we represent to give voice to and support what is important to them and that’s what I’m determined to do for the Northwest Ward if people are kind enough to re-elect me.”
Born and raised in West Texas, Brad first came to Nacogdoches as an SFA student some 50 years ago. After a career in acting in Los Angeles, Brad returned to his adopted home town and is in the twentieth year of a second career as a lecturer in film making at his alma mater.
Brad chose to live out the rest of his life in Nacogdoches because he loves so much about this place. The pine trees, the lakes and streams, the history, the people. Brad calls Nacogdoches “one special place”. He says it’s for that reason that he is looking to continue serving on the Council. City election day is May 3rd.
