Funeral services for Belinda Nell New, 82, of Jacksonville, Texas will be 2:00 pm Friday, July 29, 2022, at Rusk Church of Christ in Rusk, Texas with Ferrel Whitley officiating. There will be a visitation Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing. Belinda Nell was born March 25, 1940, to Albert Whitley and Eula Wright Whitley in Goldthwaite, Texas. Belinda married Daniel New December 19, 1960, and they enjoyed over sixty-one years of happiness together. She worked at the State Hospital in Rusk for over thirty years. Belinda also served as the postmaster for New Summerville and Reklaw, Texas. She even worked on a mail route after she retired. Belinda made sure her children were involved in school and their community, enrolling them in 4-H and taking them on trips. Belinda and Daniel welcomed exchange students throughout their lives she always had a full house. Belinda was known as “mamaw” to everyone. She a “giver” and prided herself in caring for others. Belinda loved to entertain and cook for her children, and later, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an “old school cook” and famous for cooking dishes without recipes often measuring ingredients from the top of her head. Belinda was an active member of the Jacksonville Church of Christ and led her entire family to the Lord; she later joined the Rusk Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Melody Goff, sisters Thelma Ingram, Clista Clakley, great granddaughters Jaylie Gray, Gracelyn Gonzalez, and daughter-in-law Sharon New. She is survived by her husband Daniel New, Sr. of Jacksonville, son Daniel “Boog” New, Jr. of Rusk, daughters Rhonda Dover and fiancé George Buckholt of Jacksonville, and Nadine New of Rusk, brother Farrel and wife Michelle Whitley of San Saba, and sister Nita and husband Jim Clark of Mineola. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory thirteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dakota Dover, Dan New, Jared Goff, Jake Goff, Josh Langston, Jordon Langston.

Honorary pallbearers are Oy, Josh, and Carson.
