Obituary

Amanda Tolentino Sevilla, 62, of Alto, passed away on January 11, 2025 in Houston, Texas. Visitation and Rosary will be 5:00-7:00PM Wednesday January 15th at O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home. Rosary to start at approximately 6:20pm . Graveside services will be held 2:00PM Friday January 17, 2025 at Sevilla Family Cemetery 4345 FM 851, Alto, Texas officiated by Padre Jayaseelanraj Lucas.

In 1980, Amanda married Pascual Sevilla from Puebla, Mexico. They moved to Alto in 1983 where they both worked as dairy farmers for 15 years. By the end of 1985, they had three children. Amanda, alongside her husband, sacrificed to make sure their children would have a place to call home. Amanda and Pascual were not educated, but that did not stop them. Their son and daughter helped them overcome challenges and faced them together as a family. Amanda worked at Pilgrim’s Pride in Lufkin for 25 years. Her co-workers became family, and she always enjoyed their company. She was an active member of her church, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Texas. Amanda radiated with Jesus’ light and love to everyone she met. She was a true woman of God and put her faith in Jesus. Prayer was a way of life, and she showed it to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her farm animals. Amanda tried to learn to drive the tractor, but she left the tractor job to her son! She also enjoyed crocheting where hats, scarves, and blankets were a must for her grandchildren. In 2024, Amanda became a United States Citizen and voted in the general election! Amanda was famous for her delicious tamales. Her recipe lives on and will be passed down to her grandchildren and the generations to come.

Amanda was known as “YaYa” by her three grandchildren and “Tia” to her nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Celia Carballo; her brother, Floriberto “Lencho” Tolentino; grandparents, Mavra and Pancho Tolentino; her mother-in-law, Cita Gayosso; her daughter, Patricia Sevilla; and her father-in-law, Marco Antonio Sevilla. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Pascual Gayosso Sevilla; her son Tony Sevilla; her daughter Diane Sevilla-Braddock and husband Mark Edwin Braddock; grandson Brody Edwin-Sevilla Braddock; granddaughters Charlotte Grace Braddock and Caroline Ceta Braddock. She also leaves behind nephews Jonathan Tolentino Santiago and daughter Leilany, Alexander Tolentino Santiago, Ricardo Tolentino Santiago, and family in Mexico. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff that went above and beyond the call at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, co-workers at Pilgrim’s Pride, and all who have reached out through a phone call, text, and visit. Also, thank you to O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home for their support and kindness during this most difficult time.
