Obituary
Wallace Gale Carney, age 82, of Nacogdoches passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022, in Nacogdoches. He was born May 31, 1940, in Houston to parents Bill Carney and Billie (Martin) Carney.
Mr. Carney retired after working for over 60 years as a roofing contractor. He enjoyed helping others, horses, and playing 42 with friends and family. A member of North Street Church of Christ, Wallace studied God’s word daily.
Wallace was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 51 years, Phyllis Carney; son, Russell Carney; and brothers, Ron Carney, Gary Carney, and Phil Carney.
He is survived by his daughters, Robin Grissom and husband Randall, Kim Carney, and Cindy Carney; sisters, Sharon Sue White and husband Carroll and Barbara LaLena; sisters-in-law, Tommye Carney and Sheila Carney; grandchildren, Jimmy Johnson and wife Bethany, Jordan Johnson and wife Shelby, Jared Johnson and wife Erica, Colton Grissom and wife Shelby, Dakota Patrick, and Makayla Patrick; great-grandchildren, Bryce Johnson and wife Destiny, Haylee Johnson, Josie Hambrick, Lillie Johnson, Chesnie Johnson, Astrid Johnson, and Avery Grissom; and great-great-granddaughter, Olivia Garcia.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors in Nacogdoches followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM officiated by Curtis Barbarick and Bill Sherrill.
Wallace will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jay White, Stan Carney, Jimmy Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Jared Johnson, Dakota Patrick, Bryce Johnson, and Colton Grissom. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Carney, Matthew Carney, Steve Carney, and Mark LaLena.
