Virgie Sue Evans Obituary

November 21, 1938 – April 23, 2026

Virgie Sue Evans, 87, of Nacogdoches passed away on April 23, 2026, in Nacogdoches. She was born on November 21, 1938, in Nacogdoches to parents George Alvin Jones and Era Arnell (Allred) Jones.

A graduate of Nacogdoches High School, Sue spent her career in insurance sales and private business. Win or lose, she loved the Dallas Cowboys! She enjoyed reading books, particularly mysteries and science fiction. She loved playing board games, dominos, 42, Bingo, and bowling. Sue was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and was ordained as a minister.

Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Venis Evans; daughter, Susan Fergueson; and son, Silas Edwin Stotts, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Kirkley and husband Don of Nacogdoches, Sandra Porter and husband Marlin of Nacogdoches, and Pamela Soloman of Nacogdoches; sons, Roger Stotts and wife Kim of Georgetown, and Jerry Stotts of Nacogdoches; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am officiated by Rev. Karen Norton. Mrs. Evans will be interred at Old North Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be James Edwin Stotts, Zachery Levie Stotts, Aaron Johnson, Austin Johnson, Chester Pleasant, and Jonathon Smith.
