Obituary

Verdie harrison,90, of Alto Tx, passed away on September 19,2022 in Alto Tx

Visitation will be between 6-8pm on Friday  September 23,2022 at O.T Allen funeral home in Alto Tx.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday September 24,2022 at New Hope Baptist church in Alto Tx, Pastor Hoarce Of New Hope Baptist Church will be officiating the service, burial will follow at New Hope Community cemetery.

Verdie Harrison was born in Rusk Tx to Mr.Jim Jackson and Mrs.Jennie Tyler on September 30,1931.

She went to school in Alto Tx and graduated from Booker T Washington in 1950, Mrs.Harrison attended butler college in Tyler tx on a Basketball scholarship 

In 1971 she married Arthur Lee Harrison they were happily married until he passed away in 2014.

She worked at the Rusk state hospital in the mail room for 20+years until she retired. Mrs.Harrison was a active member of New Hope Baptist Church she was the secretary for many years. She also had her hand in many roles involving the church. 

Mrs. Harrison was on the board of the credit union for many years, she was also known as the band mom for the Alto Mean Sting Band for many years as well.

Mrs.Harrison had many achievements throughout her life, Mrs.Harrison loved shopping, fishing and a good steak she was a great supporter of Alto Sports and loved her family and her friends more than anything. 

Survivors include Her Grandsons

Gerald Lamont Willis and his wife Trinka Willis of Lufkin Tx

Dantrell Casel and his wife Vendella Casel of Alto Tx and her God daughter Sharunda Casel of Jacksonville Tx. 

Her step children 

Bruce and Helen Harrison of Huntington, Arthur Lee Harrison Jr. and Thanh van Harrison of Houston Tx, Rayford and Sandy Harrison of Houston Tx, Nelda and Herman Scott of Lufkin Tx, Vanessa Harrison and Kamal Ibrahim of Houston Tx, Shirley and mark Dickerson of Appleby Tx. Sharon Harrison and Margaret Harrison of Killeen Tx. 

And Many great grandchildren 

She was preceded in death by her parents Jim Jackson and Jennie Tyler, Her husband Arthur Lee Harrison and her son Gerald M Thompson.

Mrs Harrison leaves behind countless relatives and good friends.
