NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas – Two Nacogdoches residents were charged with drug and firearm offenses following an investigation by the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office. Luther Levann Jackson, 38, and Tynequa Shanice Blakey, 32, were taken into custody Thursday. Jackson faces three first-degree felony charges for the manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony for the manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and a state-jail felony for delivery of
marijuana. Blakey is charged with one second-degree felony for possession of a controlled substance and a state-jail felony for possession of marijuana.
Both were booked into the county jail Thursday. Jackson was stopped by deputies in the 100 block of S. University Drive around 11 a.m. Thursday for a traffic violation, at which point he was taken into custody for a warrant. Based on information developed during an ongoing investigation that narcotics were present at a home in the 1700 block of Castleberry Street, where Jackson was believed to reside, deputies then served a search warrant at a home.. Blakey was taken into custody at the residence.
During the search of the home, deputies located approximately 5.9 ounces of cocaine; 14.9 ounces of methamphetamine; 8.7 ounces of ecstasy; 3.8 lbs. of marijuana; four firearms, including one reported stolen from Angelina county; and numerous items of drug paraphernalia. For reference: a billiard ball weighs approximately 6 ounces; a football ball weighs between 14 and 16 ounces; 8.7 ounces is approximately the weight of 3.6 tennis balls; and 4 lbs. is about the weight of a traffic cone.
This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges are possible.
