On Friday 10-17-25, Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a Ford pickup truck on Highway 59S, traveling northbound toward Nacogdoches. The vehicle was stopped for speeding inside a construction zone.
The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was identified as John Darren Crawford, 50 years of age from Nacogdoches, Texas. Upon contact with the driver, deputies became suspicious due to Crawford’s behavior.
Consent to search the vehicle was granted by Crawford who is the registered owner of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 2. 4 pounds of Crystal methamphetamine, 123 grams of Alprazolam pills and a small amount of marijuana.
Deputies located the drugs inside a cardboard box hidden inside the tool box of the truck. Crawford was arrested at the scene and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail.
Deputies suspect that Crawford had just recently obtained the drugs from the Houston area and was transporting the drugs back to Nacogdoches county to be distributed.
Crawford has been charged with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance a 1st degree and 2nd degree felony along with Possession of Marijuana.
