The Humane Society of Nacogdoches County will be reopening this January, but with some changes.

Most people have noticed that the Humane Society of Nacogdoches County has been closed at the end of 2024. We have been hard at work evaluating, analyzing and discussing the programs that we offer to our community. We want to make sure that we are here for you when you need us!

Therefore we have made some changes in our public assistance programs so that we can continue to serve our community far into the future.

The Humane Society of Nacogdoches County will be reopening on Monday, January 6.
Office Hours: Tuesdays and Wednesdays-12 noon until 4pm
Phone Hours: Monday through Friday- 12 noon until 4pm

Anyone living in Nacogdoches County can apply for a voucher to help pay for their pet(s) spay or neuter. You will find the applications on our website (www.humanesocietynac.com) or at our office. They are also available for pick up at the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter, just look for the table as you walk in the door.
Just like before, your household will need to qualify. All the ways to qualify are listed on the back of each application.
The number of vouchers available each month are limited and each voucher will help cover a portion of the spay/neuter costs. Any costs over the voucher amount are the responsibility of the owner.

Emergency Aid is the biggest change that we have made and anyone who feels they might need to use this program, will need to pre-qualify each year.
The application for Emergency Aid Prequalification is also on our website, www.humanesocietynac.com, and the ways to qualify are listed on the back of each application.

Each application that is approved is for the household and limited to two incidents per year.
With each incident, the HSNC will cover an exam and diagnostics up to $200. Any costs over that are the responsibility of the owner.

Applications must be approved prior to veterinary visits and will not be approved retroactively or same-day.

Any other programs that we have offered in the past, if not mentioned above, are continuing much as they have been. (TNR, Shelter Pet Adoption Vouchers, Spring Special, etc.)

We are excited to be opening again and serving the animals and people of Nacogdoches County!
