(NACOGDOCHES, TX, July 17, 2025) – Assistant Chief Bill Kennedy and others from the City of Nacogdoches Police Department will present Business Armor: Strategies for a Safer Workplace, from 9 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 23 at the Nacogdoches County Chamber, 2516 North St.
“All local businesses are invited to attend this summer series workshop for practical strategies and insights into crime prevention and response,” said Vice Chair Public Policy Tyrone Curl. “Attendees will hear best practices for handling problematic customers and employees to general crime prevention to internal thefts to scams and fraud.”
Assistant Chief Kennedy would like to know the safety concerns and questions from attendees. Two-way discussions will be encouraged.
The workshop is part of the chamber’s Business Development Series presented by Farmers State Bank, and is free of charge. About Bill Kennedy
Assistant Chief Bill Kennedy began his law enforcement career with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Department in 1996. He joined the Nacogdoches Police Department in 1999. In his time with the police department, he has served in the patrol division, special operations, criminal investigations and administration. Over the past 26 years he actively participated in the police honor guard, as a field training officer, narcotics officer, gang officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant and now Assistant Chief of Operations. In addition, he has been an active member of the Nacogdoches Combined SWAT team for 25 years.
He was previously assigned as the Criminal Investigations Lieutenant, Director of Professional Standards and SWAT team Commander. His current assignment as Assistant Chief of Operations includes the direction and management of the Nacogdoches Police Department operational resources including the patrol division and tactical units. He is a Master Peace Officer, career long firearms, tactics and hand combat instructor and five-time member of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Legislative Update Committee.
He is the Operations Section Chief of our Nacogdoches County Combined Emergency Management team and coordinated the creation of our All-Hazards Response Planning group. He has provided expert testimony in both the 145th and 420th District Courts in the areas of firearms and violence. He is a proud son of the Honorable Mother Susan Kennedy and Deacon Bill Kennedy (deceased), father of William Kennedy V and Alyssa Pezutto and humbled husband of Amanda Kennedy, Assistant Chief at UT Police System SFA. He is also a Rotarian, graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, and longtime resident of Nacogdoches County.
