Obituary
Funeral services for Stephen Wayne Jones, 61, of Rusk will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Warr officiating. Interment will follow at Saint’s Rest Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Laird Funeral Home.
Wayne was a simple man who enjoyed nothing more than being outside. His farm work allowed him to experience the beautiful days that God gives us, and he loved every minute of it. Farming, although he enjoyed it, was work for him. When he wasn’t working, he would be piddling with his motorcycles, joining his motorcycle club brothers on an adventure or riding around in whatever fast car he was interested in at the time. And no matter what, he always made time for his fur friends, Millie and Bear.
In 2004, Wayne met the love of his life. He and Deborah were married on December 18, 2004, and spent 17 wonderful years together and watched as the kids and grandkids grew up. These times were especially heartwarming for Wayne because he loved them each dearly and hearing the word “Pop” brought great joy to him. His life completely changed in 2022 when he had to say goodbye to his beloved Deborah, and he missed her immeasurably.
Wayne is survived by his children, Shelby Prince, Tyler Serpas, Houston Serpas and Destin Harvey; grandchildren, Lydia Serpas, Zoey Carrizales, Nora Serpas, Stella Ray Serpas, Mathew Serpas, Noah Serpas, Emma Mae Serpas, Addie Prince, Lacie Prince, Marley Prince and Joshua Prince, as well as other close family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah and his parents, Von & Maxine Jones.
