Sidney Pye, Sr. Obituary
Sidney C. Pye, Sr. was born May 30th, 1945 in Houston, TX to Edward Young and Fern Marie Little Pye. He passed from this earth on April 27, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, friendships, and stories that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Raised in Houston, Texas, he learned the value of hard work early, building houses alongside his father. Those formative years shaped what many would come to admire most about him – his unmatched skill with anything mechanical. Known by friends and family as a true mechanical genius, there was hardly a problem he couldn’t fix or a challenge he wouldn’t take on.
He spent years working in the steel mills and supporting the United Steelworkers, providing for his family with dedication and pride. He also worked as a mechanic in the very early years of UPS. Outside of work, he embraced life fully and enthusiastically. He had a deep love for fishing and motor sports of all kinds – passions that brought him both excitement and lifelong friendships.
He was a man who never met a stranger. With a wide circle of friends and a generous spirit, he was always ready to lend a hand, share a story, or offer his time.
After the passing of his beloved wife in 2012, he found renewed purpose through his involvement with the senior center and the American Legion in Coldspring, where he continued to build friendships and stay connected to his community.
He will be remembered as a larger-than-life, colorful character – vibrant, funny, kind, and skilled. His legacy lives on in the many people he helped, the friendships he nurtured, and the family he loved so much.
He will be deeply missed.
A private service is being held at a later date.
