Mrs. Galindo passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 in Nacogdoches. She was born on December 27, 1949 in Baytown, Texas.

Shirley was born and raised in Baytown, where she began her career as a teller at the bank.  She then worked for many years at the City of Baytown until her retirement in 2016.

Being blessed with the birth of her children was one of life’s greatest moments.  Shirley was beyond proud of Kenneth and Crystal and the life each of them chose.  Upon the arrival of Kenneth’s children, she became Memaw and when Crystal’s children came along, they shortened her name to Maw.  Her heart was filled with joy as she was able to watch them grow into young adults that meant more to her than they ever knew.

During the years she spent in Baytown, she was lucky enough to become friends with a gentleman named Cesar.  The two soon learned they had many things in common and as the opportunity presented itself, it was actually Shirley who approached Cesar.  They have now spent over 40 years together, with many wonderful memories to show for it. Before they retired, she and Cesar decided they would make their final home in Nacogdoches.  They built their dream house and began their retirement years in their favorite place in East Texas, nestled in the pine trees, where her parents spent their lifetime.

Shirley had many things that she enjoyed in life.  She loved traveling with Ceasar, Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, cooking for her family and spending time at the beach.  She was a very good dancer and demonstrated this for many years on the dance floor with Cesar.  However, her favorite times were always those spent with her family and friends who were very important to her.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Cesar Galindo; children, Kenneth Dew & wife, Jennifer and Crystal Matovich & husband, Jonathan; grandchildren, Lauren Dew, Brittney Dew, Katelyn Dew, Weston Dew, Alex Matovich, Evan Matovich, Oliver Matovich, Justin Folwell & wife, Daneyda and Jessica Folwell; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Albert Bryan & wife, Vicky and Kathy Kohler; brothers-in-law, Roger Galindo & wife, Yolanda and Lalo Galindo & wife, Connie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert & Ruby Bryan; siblings, Frances Jones, Joy Bryan and Wesley Bryan.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Dew, Weston Dew, Alex Matovich, Jonathan Matovich, Justin Folwell and Glenn Thornton.
