Stephen F. Austin State University’s School of Art will open an international art exhibition, “Crossing Water: Explorations of a Transformative Act” Oct. 15 at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.
The exhibition will showcase work from a group of international artists who met during two residencies in Spain in 2023 and 2024. Artists include Lindsey Creel Cherry, United States; Anna Franke, Germany; Aileen Harvey, United Kingdom; Ima Montoya, Spain; and Stefania Fenu, Italy.
The exhibition explores the transformative act of crossing water, interpreted through the unique styles and materials of different artists. Using canvas, paper, wood and installations beyond the gallery walls, the works offer diverse perspectives on the theme.
The exhibition opening will begin with an artist panel discussion at 5 p.m. followed by a reception from 6 to 8 p.m.
