Blue Door Percussion Trio6 p.m. March 31
Wright Music Building, Cole Concert HallSFA’s School of Music presents the debut performance of Blue Door Percussion Trio, a newly formed professional ensemble based in Texas. The trio features Dr. Emily Durocher, Luciano Medina and Dr. James Vilseck, SFA faculty member.
SFA Opera Theater7:30 p.m. April 3-5
Griffith Fine Arts Building, Turner AuditoriumSFA’s School of Music and School of Theatre and Dance will feature SFA’s outstanding student singers in a full production with the SFA Symphony Orchestra and with sets, costumes and lighting designed by theatre personnel.
Baseball vs. Texas A&M University-Corpus ChristiApril 4-6
Nacogdoches City Baseball Complex, Pilgrim’s ParkSFA’s baseball team is set to play a three-game series against Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi over three days, including 6:05 p.m. April 4, 3:05 p.m. April 5 and 1:05 p.m. April 6.
Horticulture Spring Plant Fair8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 5
Agriculture GreenhouseStudents and faculty members in SFA’s horticulture program will host the seventh annual Spring Plant Sale. Available plants include summer annuals, edibles, native perennials, houseplants and succulents, all of which thrive in East Texas. Free pancakes will be available, while supplies last.
Spring 2025 Garden Gala Day Plant Sale9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 5
Pineywoods Native Plant Center SFA Gardens will host its annual Spring Garden Gala Day Plant Sale, featuring an array of hard-to-find, “Texas-tough” plants, including Texas natives, edibles, tropicals, perennials, shrubs and trees, with an emphasis on pollinator-friendly selections.
Softball vs. East Texas A&M UniversityApril 8 and 9Nacogdoches City Baseball Complex, SFA Softball FieldSFA’s softball team is set to play a three-game series against East Texas A&M University over two days, including 4 and 6:30 p.m. April 8, and 1 p.m. April 9. 
Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are in a Play!” – Children’s Series 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. April 8
Griffith Fine Arts Building, Turner Auditorium Gerald the elephant and Piggie the pig, best friends with opposite personalities, break their new toy and realize they are in a play, using humor and music to engage the audience. Based on Mo Willems’ beloved books, this fun-filled musical features lively songs, playful antics and the quirky Squirelles, delighting kids from pre-K to fifth grade.
Horticulture and Conservation at Houston Botanic Garden 7 p.m. April 10
Brundrett Conservation Education BuildingThe SFA Gardens Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series features Brent Moon of the Houston Botanic Garden, who will present “Horticulture and Conservation at Houston Botanic Garden.” The Houston Botanic Garden opened in fall 2020 and is Houston’s newest outdoor destination, dedicated to enriching life through discovery, education and conservation of plants and the natural environment. 
Picnic in the Pines6 p.m. April 11
Culinary Café Hospitality administration students will be hosting a Picnic in the Pines-themed fundraiser. This event is a new take on the former Kentucky Derby Dinner and Silent Auction and will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres, cupcakes and mocktails made by students of many different hospitality courses. Students in the “Special Events Production” course will be planning all aspects of the event from auction item donations to menu planning to decorations. Tickets will be $50 each or $500 for a table of eight.
